Workhorse Trailer FAQ's

What kind of truck do I need to pull this?

Half-ton to one-ton pickups. If you’ve got a standard work truck in the driveway, you’re ready to haul. The Workhorse is engineered to be high-capacity but low-profile enough that a standard pickup can handle the load safely and efficiently. No CDL, no special equipment—just hitch up and go.

Does this require a CDL?

No CDL required. Our trailers are designed to operate safely under the 26,000 lb GVWR limit. This allows any of your standard drivers to handle deliveries, giving you maximum flexibility with your crew without the need for specialized commercial licensing.

What is the actual cargo capacity?

We didn’t name it the “Workhorse” for nothing. You’re looking at a 12,000-pound capacity deck. That is a serious amount of material, equipment, or whatever else your job site demands. It’s built to handle the “big stuff” without breaking a sweat, ensuring you can maximize every single trip and stop leaving money on the table.

Can I haul loose materials like gravel, mulch, or dirt?

Can you? It’s basically the trailer’s favorite snack. The Workhorse was specifically engineered to tackle “difficult” loose materials like gravel and mulch without breaking a sweat. While your competitors are still digging out the corners of their old dump beds, you’ll be finished and heading to an early lunch. It doesn’t just haul it; it delivers it exactly where you need it.

Will it damage sod or nursery goods?

Nope. In fact, your product will probably enjoy the ride. Instead of being manhandled by a forklift or dragged around by a skid steer, your sod and nursery goods are gently rolled directly onto the ground. It’s the difference between a rough tackle and a smooth slide. Your product arrives looking exactly like it did when it was loaded—minus the forklift scars.

Can I load compact equipment (skid steers, mini-ex)?

You bet. It’s like a delivery truck and an equipment trailer had a very productive baby. The rear gate and tilt system are built to handle the “climb” of a skid steer or mini-ex without the usual ramp-related stress. Why bring two trailers to the job site when the Workhorse can handle the machine on the way in and the debris on the way out?

How does automated unloading work on a slope?

The Workhorse is engineered for maximum stability, but even a mountain goat has its limits. Our system handles slopes and uneven job sites beautifully, though we do provide specific safety guidelines to ensure the trailer stays grounded and the material goes exactly where it’s supposed to. As long as you follow the “rules of the road” for uneven terrain, you can unload with confidence—even if the world isn’t perfectly flat.

How long does the battery last / how do I charge it?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. Optio, neque qui velit. Magni dolorum quidem ipsam eligendi, totam, facilis laudantium cum accusamus ullam voluptatibus commodi numquam, error, est. Ea, consequatur.
Do you offer financing or ROI calculators?

Absolutely. We’ve got financing options to fit your budget, and we even provide a ROI Calculator so you can crunch the numbers yourself. We know the “sticker price” is only half the story—the other half is how much you’ll save on labor and how many more jobs you’ll squeeze into a day. It’s the only math homework you’ll actually enjoy doing.

Program FAQ's

Is there truly zero cost?

Yes, the rental fee is exactly $0.00. We aren’t hiding a bill in the toolbox. You get the trailer for 30 days for free, though you’re still on the hook for the “operating” basics: fuel, your insurance premium, and making sure the tires stay shiny. Other than that, the only “cost” is your feedback and a few videos of the Workhorse doing what it does best.

What are the insurance requirements?

Winners must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) listing Haulit as “additionally insured” for the duration of the loan.

Is a deposit required?

Nope. We’re doing a “trust fall” here. We don’t require a cash deposit to get the Workhorse on your job site. As long as your application is approved and your insurance (COI) is in place, we’re good to go. We’d much rather you spend that deposit money on extra material to haul.

Who pays for shipping?

We do! We aren’t going to offer you a free trailer and then hit you with a massive “handling” fee like a late-night infomercial. Haulit covers the shipping both ways. Just make sure there’s a spot to park it when the driver shows up!

Is the program available nationwide?

Absolutely. As long as there’s a road leading to your shop, the answer is yes. We’re shipping these Workhorses nationwide to see how they handle different climates and terrains. From the East Coast to the West, nowhere is off-limits—as long as we don’t need a boat to get there.

What happens if the trailer is damaged?

We expect and account for natural wear and tear that comes with 30 days of professional use. However, the operator is responsible for any significant damage resulting from negligence, improper use, or accidents. Per the Pilot Program agreement, if the trailer is significantly damaged due to operator negligence, the participating company will be responsible for the cost of repairs. We require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) prior to delivery to ensure both parties are protected.

What makes a "winning" application?

We’re looking for the “Workhorses” of the industry. A winning application is professional, established, and ready to put our equipment to the ultimate test. We skip the hobbyists and go straight for the pros who can clearly articulate how this technology will change their daily workflow. Don’t overthink the One Sentence Pitch—just tell us why your current setup is slowing you down and how we can help you speed up.

Can new businesses apply?

Not for this round. To ensure we’re getting the best data possible, we are prioritizing established businesses with active, daily delivery operations. We want to see how our trailer transforms an existing workflow, so a solid history of “moving stuff” is a key requirement for this pilot.

When will winners be announced?

We don’t have a specific date yet. Our team is hand-vetting every application to ensure we select partners who will get the most out of the program. When we find the right fit for the Workhorse, we’ll reach out immediately to get the ball rolling.

What kind of content (photos/videos) do I need to provide? (

We aren’t looking for a cinematic masterpiece or a TikTok dance. We just want to see the Workhorse… well, working. Your weekly post can be as simple as a quick cell phone video of the conveyor in action or a photo of a clean delivery at a job site. As long as you tag @Haulit, we’re happy. At the end, we’ll hop on a 30-minute Zoom to hear the “good, the bad, and the ugly” of your experience. And if you’re close enough for us to drive to, we might even show up with professional cameras to make you look like a superstar.

What if I’m not active on social media?

Look, we get it—some of the best businesses in the world haven’t posted a photo since 2012. If your “social media strategy” is just a dusty Facebook page, don’t let that stop you from applying. As long as you’re willing to point a phone at the trailer once a week and chat with us on Zoom at the end, we can make it work. And if you’re local or regional, we might even bring our own cameras and make you look like the social media pro you never wanted to be.

Can I buy the unit at a discount after the trial?

We’re counting on it! Most people realize after about three days that they never want to go back to their old setup. Since the trailer will already be at your shop and has a few “honest miles” on it from the trial, we’d much rather sell it to you at a discount than pay to ship it back to headquarters. If you fall in love, we’ll make the “adoption” process very attractive.

Can I extend the trial for a major project?

It depends—how cool is the project? If you’re asking for an extra week because you’re doing a massive, high-profile install that makes our trailer look like a hero, we’ll definitely listen. If you just want to keep it longer because it’s awesome, we usually have to stick to the schedule so the next person on the list can get their turn. Communication is key!

Which model is provided?

Standard Workhorse vs. XL. We aim to accommodate your preference based on your operation’s needs, but we cannot guarantee a specific model for the trial. Availability depends on our current pilot fleet rotation. Whether it’s the standard Workhorse or the XL, you’ll be getting the full automated unloading experience.

Does it come with all attachments/remotes?

Oh yeah. We aren’t about to send you a high-tech trailer and then tell you the remote is “sold separately.” Your pilot unit comes fully equipped with the whole kit and kaboodle—remotes, attachments, and all the bells and whistles. It’s the VIP experience from the moment it hits your hitch. Batteries are included.

Can I haul [specific materials] during the trial?

Rocks? Yes. Gravel? Yes. Mulch, trees, or that mini-excavator you’ve been lugging around? Absolutely. We call it the Workhorse because it doesn’t complain about the heavy stuff. It’s designed to be the “Swiss Army Knife” of trailers. If it fits and it’s within the weight limit, let ‘er rip. We actually want you to put it through the ringer with your toughest loads so you can see the efficiency for yourself.
