Efficient Super Sack Loading and Unloading

Super sacks, also known as bulk bags or flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs), are a common way to transport and store materials such as fertilizer, grain, and sand or other feed for animals. They are typically made of strong, durable plastic and can hold up to 2,000 pounds of material each.

Loading Super Sacks

  1. Identify your Super Sacks. You will need a pallet and a forklift to load unless you load with a crane or pulley.
  2. Place the pallet loaded with the super sack on the back end of the trailer bed with a forklift (or lift with crane onto the back end of the trailer) and move the belt forward until all super sacks are loaded.
  3. Secure the tarp system over the sacks if required by your state DOT Regs.

Unloading Super Sacks

  1. Position the trailer. Back the trailer up to the unloading area.
  2. Disengage the tarp system and crank the tarp back into the shroud.
  3. Use the remote control to move the belt back towards the back of the trailer.

Secure the load (if necessary). If you are concerned that the super sack may tip over, use a strap to secure it to the trailer.

  1. Use the remote control to raise the bed of the trailer up until the caster wheels on the back of the trailer hit the ground.
  2. Use the remote control to engage the belt backwards until the first super sack hits the ground. Once the first super sack hits the ground continue to unload the additional cargo. You will need to pull the vehicle gently forward until all super sacks are off the trailer.

Tips

  • Be sure to wear safety glasses and gloves when handling super sacks.
  • Never stand behind the trailer when the load is being off-loaded.
  • Use caution when off-loading super sacks.

Happy Hauling!
